Nassau Police Searching For Teen Missing From Group Home; 2 Others Located

SYOSSET, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Nassau County Police continue to search for a teenage boy who was reported missing from a group home over the weekend.

Three boys were last seen leaving MercyFirst Group Home in Syosset around 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Shakeem Smith, 14, and Gabriel Hernandez, 16, were located on Tuesday. Jonathan Acevedo, 15, remains missing.

Acevedo is described as a Hispanic male standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 139 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt.

The home is one of several around Long Island and New York City for at-risk youth run by MercyFirst. The nonprofit is an offshoot of the Sisters of Mercy Catholic organization.

Anyone with information about the missing teen's whereabouts is asked to call the Nassau County police missing persons squad at 516 573-7347 or 911.
