Police: Stamford Man Admits To Downloading Child Pornography

STAMFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) - A Stamford father of four was arrested in an early morning raid Monday for possessing hundreds of images of child pornography.

As WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reported, Stamford police received a tip that child porn was being downloaded at a house on Annie Place.

Lt. Diedrich Hohn said the raid revealed hundreds of images downloaded onto the computer operated solely by 35-year-old Oziel Mazariegos.

Police said Mazariegos lives in the house with his wife and four young children, ages 3 months to 8 years.

Framed photographs of the man's own children were placed near the computer, according to police.

"Which was very disturbing that this individual is looking at child pornography and there's pictures of his children right next to the computer," Hohn told Schneidau. "You look at the photos of the children and the family and then he's looking at child pornography on the computer which is about one foot from the pictures."

Hohn said, however, it does not appear any of the four children in the family were used in the child porn images that were found on the computer.

Mazariegos admitted to downloading some pornographic videos when police interviewed him, authorities said.

Mazariegos has been charged with possession of child pornography, importing child pornography and obscenity. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
