Norwegian Breakaway Cruise Ship Docks After Getting Stuck In Hudson River For Hours
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A cruise ship returning from the Caribbean was stuck in the Hudson River for hours Sunday morning.
Around 7 a.m. Sunday, the Norwegian Breakaway came into port, but could not dock because of strong tides, Norwegian told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck. The Coast Guard said earlier there was a problem with the ship's steering and propulsion system.
A tugboat was called into haul the massive ship into Pier 88. It finally docked around 10 a.m., 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported.

Frank Fasulo, one of the passengers aboard the ship, told Silverman that hundreds of people were waiting in line for hours to disembark.
"It got a little hostile because people are coming the elevators and trying to cut the line," he said. "Meanwhile, it's already 200 deep, so they had to get some security guards to close down the elevators and direct the people where they were going."
Other passengers said the crew handled the situation well.
"They just had a propeller problem coming in and we just had to wait til we could get help back in," passenger Dave Altman said.
One man, Roy, was waiting anxiously at the dock after he received word yesterday that his father had a heart attack aboard the ship.
"It's been nothing but problems," he told Schuck.
An ambulance rushed his father away as soon as the ship arrived, CBS 2's Janelle Burrell reported.
According to Norwegian's website, the 1,063-foot Breakaway holds more than 4,000 guests.
The cruise line had planned to have a party on board to celebrate the ship's one year anniversary on Sunday, that event has been cancelled. The next stop for the ship will be Bermuda.
