Hottest Ticket Around: Rangers-Kings Game 3 Sets StubHub Sales Records

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Who says New York isn't a hockey town?

Seats for the Stanley Cup finals at Madison Square Garden are going on the secondary market for thousands -- yes, thousands -- of dollars each. And Game 3 has been such a hot ticket that it will set a new top-grossing mark for NHL games sold on StubHub.com, the company told ESPN.

The New York Rangers are on the road for the first two games against the Los Angeles Kings. Game 3 will be at MSG on Monday.

StubHub spokesman Cameron Papp told ESPN that it's "been an historic NHL playoffs for us overall." The Rangers' first home game has been a monster in terms of seat price and quantity changing hands.

"The Rangers have always sold well, but this surge is astounding," Papp said, adding that the game also set an all-time mark for events at MSG, beating out a concert by One Direction and a pair of Knicks games.

"It really shows the growth in popularity of the NHL over the last few years," he told ESPN.

Game 2 is Saturday night at Staples Center with the Kings up 1-0 in the best-of-seven series.
