Man Killed When Car Plows Through Guardrail, Plunges Off Overpass Onto Bruckner Expressway
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A 26-year-old man was killed when he drove through a metal overpass guardrail and dropped into the northbound lane of the Bruckner Expressway.
Police responded to the scene near East Tremont Ave and the Bruckner Expressway and found the man unconscious and unresponsive. He was suffering from sever body trauma and was taken to Jacobi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators determined that the man had been operating a 2012 Chevy Cruze and had been traveling eastbound on East Tremont Avenue at the time of the accident.
The accident happened shortly before 11 p.m. The car did not land on any vehicles in the lanes below, the Daily News reported.
