Boston Radio Host Calls Erin Andrews A 'B—' Over Handling Of Wainwright Fiasco

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It seems a certain Boston shock jock isn't a big fan of Fox reporter Erin Andrews.

WEEI host Kirk Minihane unleashed a verbal tirade Wednesday morning in response to Andrews' handling of Adam Wainwright's explanation for why he apparently grooved pitches to the Yankees' Derek Jeter during the first inning of Tuesday's All-Star Game in Minneapolis.

Jeter doubled off Wainwright, setting the stage for the American League's three-run inning on its way to a 5-3 victory. Wainwright, who pitched just the first inning, later told reporters that he was "going to give (Jeter) a couple of pipe shots," and then admitted that he "should have pitched him a little better than that."

Andrews entered the fray in the eighth inning after Wainwright had returned to the National League dugout. She then gave Wainwright a chance to explain his comments, which lit up Twitter like a Christmas tree. The St. Louis Cardinals' ace proceeded to offer an ambiguous apology while claiming his comments were more designed as a joke that many online didn't get.

Andrews: "The comments you made to the reporters after you pitched, what was that all about?"

Wainwright: "You know what, sometimes my humor gets taken the wrong way. I feel terrible about this. If anyone's taking any credit away from what Derek Jeter has done today, or off me or anything, it was mis-said. I made a mistake by (saying) that. I hope people realize that I'm not intentionally giving up hits out there. I know this game means something and I'm guessing people are thinking I'm going to try to give up home runs to Miguel Cabrera next, too.

"I'm very competitive and I think I said yesterday that I did not want Derek Jeter to get a hit. I think I said it today before I pitched. I don't know. It's a distraction, and I do not want to be a distraction. I wanted it to be all for Derek, so if anything is taken away from his moment then I sincerely apologize."

Andrews seemed to reinforce Wainwright's claims as she asked the pitcher sarcastically, "Don't you just love social media?"

After playing the interview during the Dennis and Callahan Show, Minihane went off.

"What a b----! I hate her! What a gutless b----! Seriously, go away. Drop dead," Minihane said. "I mean, seriously what the hell is wrong with her? First of all, follow-up. Second of all, the guy admitted he did it. He admitted it. He told reporters he threw a couple of pipe bombs. How is that social media's fault? I hate her. I seriously hate her so much. Social media is the reason she has a big house! Shut up. Shut up. I shouldn't call her a bitch, I'm sure she's a nice person."

Neither Andrews nor Fox Sports immediately commented on Minihane's outburst.
