GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — It’s a big week for Long Island’s most famous hotel as it celebrates its 140th anniversary, WCBS 880’s Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported.

“I guess I can talk about it now. Michael Jackson, when he needed to get away from the media, he came here and stayed for a month. [He] rented the entire penthouse floor for himself and his entourage and kind of just relaxed and hit out for a while,” Colin said.
As Xirinachs reported, other celebrity guests include the Kenedys, the Astors and the Vanderbilts. The Garden City Hotel has also played host to a number of racing heroes during the Belmont Stakes.
