Jets Rookie Jalen Saunders In Car Accident, Taken To Hospital As Precaution

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Jets have announced that rookie wide receiver Jalen Saunders was in a single-car accident on Friday morning while on his way to the team's practice facility.

He was taken the hospital as a precautionary measure, the Jets announced.

He will not travel with the team to Cincinnati and will miss New York's second preseason game against the Bengals on Saturday night.

No other details have been released at this time.

The 5-foot-9, 164-pound wideout was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma.

Saunders, 21, was a second team All-Big 12 selection in 2013.

"I would describe my playing style like a gorilla," Saunders said after being drafted. "I'm a savage on that field. I would say between a gorilla and a terrier, a pet dog or a terrier. They're real small and people don't expect too much from them. They always like to fight and always like to play around. That's just the type of player I am. I'm real feisty."

Saunders can also be used as a punt returner.
