Giants' Beason, Beckham And Kennard Ruled Out Of Texans Game

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's been a rough week on the injury front for the Giants.

First they lost slot cornerback Walter Thurmond III and wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan for the season. Then on Friday they announced that they'll be without three other key contributors when they take on the undefeated Houston Texans on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

In search of its first win, Big Blue will be without linebacker Jon Beason, linebacker Devon Kennard and rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Beason, a dominant force in the middle, injured his big toe after stepping on a Cardinal in the second half of last week's 25-14 Giants' loss. He was to visit orthopedist Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina on Friday.

Kennard, a rookie out of USC,  has been dealing with a hamstring problem for some time.

As a result of the injuries, Spencer Paysinger and Mark Herzlich are expected to split strong-side linebacker duties next to Jameel McClain.

Beckham, who was selected in the first round out of LSU, hasn't played a down yet in the regular season after barely playing during training camp and the preseason due to a hamstring problem.

Preston Parker, Julian Talley, and rookie Corey Washington will provide receiving depth behind starters Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle on Sunday.
