5 Rescued From Sinking Boat In Sandy Hook Bay

HIGHLANDS, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Two children and three adults escaped injury when their boat started taking on water in the Sandy Hook Bay.

Coast Guard officials tell NJ.com that the rescue occurred early Wednesday afternoon, near the entrance to the Shrewsbury River in central New Jersey.

The five people on board the boat were taken off by another boater who happened to be in the area. That person's boat was soon met by a coast guard boat, which brought the five people to the Twin Lights Harbor in Highlands.

It's not yet known what caused the boat to start sinking.

The names of the people aboard the boat were not disclosed.
