Police: Man Shot In Altercation With Police In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man has been critically wounded by police in Brooklyn after he climbed into an unmarked squad car and took a sergeant's gun, police said.
Authorities said the 1:45 a.m. shooting occurred Sunday after the 25-year-old man entered the backseat of the unmarked police car stopped at a red light at Nostrand Avenue and Avenue D in East Flatbush.
A gunshot went off in the car when the man struggled with a police sergeant sitting in the front passenger seat, police said. He then allegedly took the gun and ran from the car.

Nearby officers told the man to drop the gun. That's when the man shot at them, police said.
The suspect was struck in the torso and leg and taken to at Kings County Hospital. He's listed in critical but stable condition.
Four officers were also treated for tinnitus, 1010 WINS' Kevin Rincon reported.
"When you look around, it's a pretty decent neighborhood. It's clean," said one man who woke up to find his block covered in yellow police tape.
"He hopped in the car for what? What purpose?"
"That's crazy," another man told Rincon. "He's doing something ridiculous right there. I think it's really, really ridiculous."
Police say charges against the suspect are pending.
