Suffolk Police: 2 Teens Stole Packages From Homes In Bayport And Sayville

BAYPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two teenagers are accused of stealing packages from outside homes in Bayport and Sayville in Suffolk County.

Suffolk police said they received multiple 911 calls Tuesday afternoon reporting possible stolen packages that had been delivered in the area.

Police said an officer located a vehicle on Montauk Highway in Blue Point that matched the description offered by callers at around 2:15 p.m.

The vehicle, a Chrysler Sebring, contained multiple packages that had been taken from homes, according to authorities.

The two young men in the car -- 18-year-old Aaron Diaz, of East Patchogue and 16-year-old Alex Cintorrino, of Patchogue -- were arrested and charged with nine counts of petit larceny, police said.

Diaz was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree in connection with a switchblade that was found, police said.

Both teens were expected to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip Wednesday.

The Suffolk Police Department is urging anyone who believes they may have been a victim of package theft to contact the Fifth Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8532.
