Police: Armed Suspect Suffers Graze Wound From Police Gunfire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - Police say a suspect who refused to drop his handgun was shot by an officer in Brooklyn and suffered a graze wound.

The incident happened at 9:38 p.m. Friday in East Flatbush.

Police say plainclothes officers stopped a van that was operating as an illegal livery cab.

They say a man in the front seat refused orders to take his hands out of his pockets, forcing a struggle.

Police say the man was holding a .25-caliber handgun. One of the officers fired, grazing the suspect on his right arm.

The suspect, 29-year-old Marlon Cox, is in stable condition at Kings County Hospital. He was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.

It wasn't clear if he had a lawyer.

The officers were treated for tinnitus.
