Brides-To-Be Shop For Dresses In Midtown While Raising Money For Breast Cancer Patients

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Brides-to-be did some shopping in Midtown Sunday for the big day.

And as WCBS 880's Monica Miller reported, the proceeds are going toward a good cause.

Kimberly Garrett isn't getting married until July, and is still looking for that perfect dress.

"Something with straps and something that looks good on me," she said.

The Queens resident said a great place to start was the Brides Against Breast Cancer event. The money goes toward programs for patients and their families, Miller reported.

"I have a survivor in my family and it made me more compelled to come out today," Garrett said.

Show manager Kayleen Newmann said they travel across the country raising money for the cause.

"So we have hundreds of deeply discounted gowns donated by different boutiques, designers or even gently worn once gowns up to 85 percent off," Newmann said.

And if you've already said I do, Newmann said they accept donated dresses to make another bride's dream come true.
