Brown was a passenger in a Toyota when she was shot multiple times at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.

The male driver of the car took the woman 10 minutes away to Easton Street in North Babylon, where he called police, Hall reported.

Brown is listed in critical condition at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said.

Meanwhile, around 1 a.m. police were called to 45th and Prospect streets in Copiague, where a 14-year-old boy was found shot in the leg.

The teen, who is not being identified by police, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where he was treated and released.

One man who lives down the road told Hall the neighborhood has changed over the years.

"It's just that the good people that were here kind of moved out, whatever the circumstances, and those that are left are kind of scattered throughout," he said.

Authorities said the two cases are not related.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the shootings to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
