Manhattan Pubs Prep Ahead Of St. Patrick's Day Pandemonium

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A day ahead of St. Patrick's Day, bars across New York City are preparing for an onslaught of revelers.

The beer room at O'Donoghues on 44th Street is full, the kegs are lined up and the plastic cups are stacked, 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported.

Jimmy McSweeny said the bar is ready.

"You know, it's packed all day; first come first serve," he said. "Plastic cups -- it's just crazy busy all day."

Around the corner at Connolly's on 45th Street, Anita McKenna said it's going to be a long day for her staff and customers.

"We open up at 6 a.m. and we're closing at 4 a.m.," she said.

McKenna said it will be all hands on deck to handle the huge crowds.

"As many as we can get in, get them full of beer," she said.

But perhaps before all the drinking, revelers should have something to eat. Over at O'Lunney's an Irish breakfast will be served at 6:30 a.m.
