Alonzo Mourning is an old friend of the radio program and with March Madness in the air and the NBA season running full throttle, he stopped by the Allstate Studio Wednesday morning to catch up with Boomer and Craig.
Since retiring from the NBA, Mourning has assumed the position of Vice President of Player Programs and Development for the Miami Heat, but that didn't stop the Hall of Famer from speaking candidly about the state of the New York Knicks and the job Phil Jackson is doing. Mourning also was nothing but complimentary to his old rival Jeff Van Gundy, whom he believes should be coaching somewhere based on his tremendous passion.
Another man Alonzo admires and thinks should be coaching is his old friend Patrick Ewing, who has clearly paid his dues.
Mourning talked about how much he loved playing at MSG, his old college coach John Thompson, he shared his all-time starting five, the importance of organ donation and was taken for a trip down memory lane when Craig asked about his first NCAA Tournament game at Georgetown, when as a freshman he blocked a potential game winning-shot from a Princeton guard named Bob Scrabis.
After saying goodbye to Mourning, the guys got a call from the aforementioned Scrabis, who heard Zo's recollection so he called in and told his side of the story...
