Connecticut Babysitter Accused Of Intentionally Burning Toddler

DANBURY, CONN. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 31-year-old Danbury, Connecticut woman was due in court Monday for allegedly burning a child she was babysitting.

Lidia Quilligana was placed under arrest on Friday night after police were called to a residence to investigate the 3-year-old child's injuries.

Police said she deliberately caused bruising and second-degree burns on the child's hands and legs.

The toddler's mother told authorities Quilligana told her the girl was injured by a hot stove, but after checking a recently installed hidden camera, she said she saw that Quilligana had deliberately hurt her daughter.

Quilligana is facing charges including first-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. She is being held in police custody.
