Hall Of Fame Manager Joe Torre To Throw Out First Pitch At Yankees' Opening Day

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Hall of Famer Joe Torre, who managed the Yankees from 1996-2007 and led them to four World Series titles, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on opening day at Yankee Stadium.

The Bombers will open the 2015 season against the Blue Jays on April 6. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m., and Masahiro Tanaka has been named New York's starting pitcher.

Torre, who was a two-time American League Manager of the Year with the Yankees (1996, 1998), had his No. 6 retired by the organization in a ceremony at the stadium on August 23, 2014.

The 74-year-old Brooklyn native currently serves as Major League Baseball's chief baseball officer.
