NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)Mayor Bill de Blasio is headed for the Midwest Wednesday and while he’ll be in a primary state of Iowa, he’s not running for president.

Mayor de Blasio will speak at Drake University in Iowa and at the University of Nebraska- Omaha. The topic of both addresses will be income inequality, WCBS 880’s Rich Lamb reported.

“This is something that I’m going to speak about every chance I get, everywhere I go, because this is a crisis facing our nation and facing our city. It’s a profound crisis, it’s a crisis that is not being addressed, and it is a dangerous, dangerous situation,” de Blasio said.

The mayor added rarely in our history have we seen something so important go so under-recognized, so un-acted upon.

De Blasio has been under harsh criticism this week for his world class snub of Hillary Clinton, after he went on national television and said he wouldn’t immediately endorse her.
