Commuter Alert: Weekend LIRR & AirTrain Service Disruptions

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There are several commuter alerts this weekend for those traveling on the Long Island Rail Road and for anyone heading to the airport.

Maintenance work will affect AirTrain service at Newark and JFK airports, CBS2 reported.

At Newark Airport, service will be suspended from 10 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday. Free shuttle buses will be available.

And at JFK, AirTrain service between Jamaica and Howard Beach stations will operate every 16 minutes from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. until May 22. Service between terminals will operate every nine minutes.

Meanwhile, the LIRR is cancelling all service between Mineola and Hicksville this weekend.

Crews need to demolish the crumbling 74-year-old Ellison Avenue Bridge in Westbury. It runs right above the track that needs to be shut down.

Bus service will be provided.
