2 Men Convicted In 2013 Brooklyn Shooting That Killed 16-Month-Old Boy

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Two men were convicted Thursday in the shooting death of a Brooklyn toddler who was killed in his stroller.

Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson announced the convictions Thursday of Daquan Breland, 25, and Daquan Wright, 21 in the death of 16-month-old Antiq Hennis in September 2013.

The jury convicted Breland of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Wright was convicted of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

On Sept. 1, 2013, Antiq's father, Anthony Hennis was pushing him in a stroller when the boy was struck and killed by a bullet. Police believe Anthony Hennis, a reputed gang member with a lengthy arrest record, was the intended target in the shooting.

Prosecutors said Wright handed a gun to Breland, who fired several shots.

Authorities said Anthony Hennis was the intended target. He refused to cooperate with investigators in the case.

Breland faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison and Wright faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
