Police: 83-Year-Old Man Struck, Killed By Truck In Chinatown

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- An elderly man was fatally struck by a dump truck in Chinatown Friday, according to police.

Authorities said 83-year-old Ka Chor Yau was crossing Canal Street around 1 p.m. Friday when he was struck by the dump truck traveling west from the Manhattan Bridge.

Yau was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The driver, 24-year-old Maykel Felix-Tejada, of Paterson, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed driving.

It wasn't clear if he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
