Troopers Seize 33 Pounds Of Marijuana From Car At NJ Turnpike Rest Stop

WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- New Jersey State Police arrested a Philadelphia man who allegedly had 33 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.

State police said detectives approached 28-year-old David Cederberg in the rest stop parking lot around 1:30 p.m. on Monday and while speaking with him as he sat in his black Volkswagen GTI, detectives smelled the odor of marijuana. The detectives impounded the vehicle and applied for a warrant, police said.

Following warrant approval and a search of the vehicle at Newark State Police Station, two large bags of pot with an estimated street value of $198,000 were discovered and a personal amount was found in the driver's compartment, state police said.

Cederberg, who was initially released when the car was impounded, was charged Tuesday with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and related possession charges.

Cederberg surrendered to troopers on Thursday and was being held at Middlesex County jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail, state police said.
