Police: Man Trespassed In West Village Apartment, Groped Sleeping Woman

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were searching for a suspect who got into a woman's West Village apartment through a fire escape and groped her as she slept.

Around 5:10 a.m. Thursday, the suspect walked into the residential building near Hudson and West 10th streets through the front door, and made his way to the back, police said.

The man went up the fire escape and walked into a second-floor apartment, where he grabbed the 43-year-old woman's buttocks as she slept, police said.

The woman awoke, and the man ran off, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male who is balding, and was last seen wearing black sneakers, black jeans and a white T-shirt. Police have released a surveillance photo.
