Police: Suspected Stabbed Man In Neck In Rockaways Housing Development

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A search was under way Monday for a suspect who stabbed a man in the neck in a public housing complex in the Rockaways last week.

Around 10:45 a.m. Monday, the 40-year-old man was walking through the Ocean Bay Apartments public housing development near a building a 54-22 Beach Channel Dr., in the Edgemere neighborhood on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, when a man he did not know walked up behind him and stabbed him in the neck with a knife, police said.

The suspect then ran off west on Beach Channel Drive, police said.

The victim was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, and his condition was reported as stable, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male about 25 years old, last seen wearing a black T-shirt and a red baseball cap.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect inside the lobby of a nearby building at 54-49 Almida Ave. in Queens.
