Report: Jets To Work Out QB-Turned-WR Pryor

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- He couldn't make it in the NFL as a quarterback, so now Terrelle Pryor is going to take a shot at being on the receiving end of passes.

The Jets are intrigued, so much so they plan on working out the former Ohio State star next week, according to several reports. Pryor reportedly worked out for the New England Patriots on Monday.

As a quarterback with the Oakland Raiders, Pryor appeared in a combined 15 games, including 12 starts, during the 2012 and '13 seasons. He finished with 1,953 yards, nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Since then he's bounced around on the practice squad of four teams.

Pryor made the position switch during this past spring after failing to make it with the Cincinnati Bengals as a quarterback. The 26-year-old was later claimed on waivers by the Cleveland Browns and initially made their 53-man roster, but was cut just before the season opener.

At 6-foot-6, 240 pounds, Pryor has the size to play receiver, but the jury remains out on how well he runs routes or whether he has the hands to make it at the position in the NFL.

The Jets currently have six receivers on their roster: Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Chris Owusu, Jeremy Kerley, Quincy Enunwa and rookie Devin Smith.
