YAPHANK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A Long Island man was arrested in connection to multiple residential burglaries in Yaphank, according to officials.

Patrick Fontaine, 33, was charged with four counts of burglary, along with two counts of attempted burglary for incidents that occurred at the Whispering Pines and Colonial Woods apartment complexes in Yaphank.

Fonatine is a resident at the Whispering Pines complex, WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond reported.

“And that somebody would break into your house when he has a good idea somebody is in that house, that has to be terrifying for the homeowner and the people involved,” Suffolk County Police Chief Kevin Fallon said.

Fontaine told police he committed the crimes to feed a drug habit.
