4 Children, 3 Adults Injured When School Bus Overturns In Park Slope

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Four children and three adults were injured when a mini school bus overturned in Park Slope Friday.

The incident took place at around 3:10 p.m. near 1st Street and 4th Avenue.

Police and witnesses told CBS2's Dave Carlin the driver of a Mustang with a racing stripe T-boned the bus, causing it to overturn.

"Basically the bus was trying to make a turn. It was going southbound, it made a left and the mustang sped right into it. It was really no screeching of any kind, it was kind of going quick," said witness Marilyn Herrera. "The bus overturned. As soon as I saw there were kids involved I got on the phone and made sure the kids were OK. There were about four of them. They were lined up, they from the escaped emergency exit and basically I just made sure they were OK."

Video from the scene showed another vehicle with front-end damage that may have been involved in the accident.

The children, a female bus matron, and both drivers were taken to New York Methodist Hospital. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The bus, which has since been removed to the scene, is part of the Jofaz Transportation bus company.

So far, no criminal charges have been filed.
