Critics Question Gov. Cuomo's Commitment To Funding MTA's Capital Plan
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The MTA has a long list of projects and improvements ahead, but some critics are questioning whether the money will actually be there to do all the work.
As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, a promise is just a promise until the state puts its money where its mouth is.
"You can't say there's money there, cause there isn't," said transit advocate Gene Russianoff.
Russianoff is calling on the state to specify where it'll get the money it has promised to contribute to the MTA's capital plan.
"It says I.O.U $1.5 Billion and the year 2017," Russianoff said.
But MTA Vice Chair Fernando Ferrer doesn't seem worried.
"Word of the governor of this state and the mayor of the city is certainly good enough for me," he said.
A spokesman for Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the governor's commitment is unambiguous.
