Hundreds Audition For Chance To Dance With Rockettes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- As the rain trickled down on them, hundreds of young women from across the U.S. lined up for a chance to become a Rockette.

The line stretched for more than a block outside of Radio City Music Hall on Tuesday.

Some of the women put on makeup and false eyelashes and others listened to music as they waited for hours for a chance to show off their talents.

"It's kind of like the goal for a lot of dancers," said Adrienne from Stamford, Connecticut.

"I saw them for my first time two years ago and just fell in love," said Jenny, from Sweden.

Inside, the dancers were led into a rehearsal studio to perform a routine before a panel of judges.

The Rockettes are known for their shows during the holiday season but they started adding warm-weather performances last year.

This year's "Rockettes New York Spectacular'' runs from June 15 to Aug. 7.
