Candidates Campaign Ahead Of Tuesday's 5 Primaries
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Five states, including Connecticut, will hold presidential primaries on Tuesday.
Some people waited seven hours Sunday to hear Donald Trump speak in Hagerstown, Maryland, CSB2's Brian Webb reported.
But did he sound more presidential like his campaign is promising?
"I'm self-funding my campaign folks, nobody controls me," he said.
A CBS News tracker poll shows Trump with large leads in big primary states like Pennsylvania. He is the only Republican candidate who can win the nomination before the July convention.
Ted Cruz has already moved onto Indiana and its primary May 3rd.
"Sixty-five to 70 percent of Republicans nationwide recognize that Donald Trump is not the best candidate to go up against Hillary Clinton," Cruz said.
Republican donor billionaire Charles Koch rocked the party Sunday, suggesting Democrat Hillary Clinton might make a better president than any of the Republicans in the race.
"They're terrible role models, so I don't know how we could support them," he said.
Clinton stopped off at Baptist churches in Philadelphia Sunday morning, well on her way to the Democratic nomination. But don't tell that to Bernie Sanders who is still challenging her on the issues.
"Join me and impose a tax on carbon," Sanders said.
John Kasich made the rounds on the Sunday morning talk shows saying the same, that he is the only Republican who can win the White House.
Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Maryland hold primaries on Tuesday.
