NYPD: Livery Cab Driver Hit In Face During Armed Robbery In Harlem

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD has released surveillance footage of five suspects who allegedly hit and robbed a livery cab driver earlier this year.

According to police, the five suspects were picked up by a 45-year-old livery cab driver at 1 a.m. at 210 West 146th Street in Harlem on Feb. 14. Once inside the cab, one suspect allegedly flashed a handgun before another suspect hit the male driver in the face, police said.

The suspects took the livery driver's gold iPhone 5s before leaving the scene, heading south on Lenox Avenue, police said.

The cab driver sustained an injury to his right eye, but refused medical attention, according to police.

Police describe the suspects as being between 18 and 20 years old.

The NYPD is asking anyone for information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
