Police: Robbers Smashed Open Arcade Game For Quarters, Injured Staffer At Bronx Laundromat

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A group of suspects smashed open an arcade game for the quarters, and injured an employee at a Bronx laundromat this week, police said.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, the suspects walked into the laundromat and dry cleaners at 786 Courtlandt Ave. in the Melrose section of the Bronx, and one of them began bashing an arcade game in the laundromat with a hammer – breaking the glass over the screen, police said.

A second suspect then removed the quarters from the arcade game, while a third suspect remained outside as a lookout police said.

During the robbery, one of the suspects threw a stool at a 46-year-old male employee and cut his ear, police said. He was taken to Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center with minor injuries, police said.

The suspects left the laundromat with an undetermined amount of coins, and ran across the street to 785 Courtlandt Ave., police said.

The suspect who had the hammer was described as a black male between the ages of 22 and 25, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black mask, a black and white striped long-sleeve shirt, black shorts and black and white sneakers, police said.

The second suspect was also described as a black male between 22 to 25, standing about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 220 pounds. He was carrying a black backpack and was last seen wearing a black du-rag and dark colored clothing, police said.

The third suspect was also a black male about 25 years old, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweater, black pants and black sneakers.

Police released surveillance photos of all three suspects, and video of the suspect smashing open the arcade game.
