Roc Nation Summer Classic Charity Basketball Game Returning To Barclays Center

Bryan Altman

In the wake of the success of 2014's Roc Nation Summer Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, the game's organizers have decided to bring the charity basketball event back to Brooklyn for another celebrity-laden event this summer.

The Summer Classic, which was founded by former Yankee Robinson Cano and current Yankee CC Sabathia to benefit their respective charities (CC Sabathia's PitCCh In Foundation and Robinson Cano's RC22 Foundation), will return to the borough on July 21.

Joining Cano and Sabathia this year as team captains for the game and as organizers will be boxer Miguel Cotto, who is supporting his Fundacion El Angel and singer Nick Jonas, who is supporting his Beyond Type 1 foundation.

All proceeds from the event will go directly to those four charities.

In 2014, celebrities like Derek Jeter, Carmelo Anthony, Rihanna and more were drafted onto teams and competed in front of fans in the game.

In addition to the game, the stars will also compete in a dunk showdown.

The rest of the celebrities taking part in this year's event will be announced closer to July 21, according to a press release from the Barclays Center.

For now, tickets are available for the Summer Classic at Ticketmaster.com. Standard admission tickets are available for as little as $16 and as much as $155.

If you're really looking to get close to the action, courtside seats are available beginning at $1,000 per ticket with packages for two seats and the full VIP experience going for $2,500.

Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he'd gladly trade them for just one championship for any of his other three teams.
