Reports: Warriors' Draymond Green Charged With Assault In Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. (CBSNewYork) -- Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green was reportedly arrested early Sunday morning in Michigan on an assault charge.

The San Francisco Chronicle, citing a source, reported that Green slapped a taunting fan at a nightclub in East Lansing. The male victim was not injured, according to the report. Green was arrested by police who were already on the scene and released on a $200 bond, MLive.com.

Green is scheduled to be arraigned July 20. The maximum penalty he could face is a $500 fine and/or 90 days in jail, according to MLive.com.

The 26-year-old All-Star is a member of the U.S. national team that will compete at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next month. Team USA coach Jerry Colangelo was not aware of the arrest Monday morning and said he had no comment until he learned more, USA Today reported.

The Warriors released a statement saying: "We are aware of news involving Draymond Green in Michigan over the weekend. At this point, we are collecting information and will have no further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation."

Green is from Saginaw, Michigan, and was an All-American at Michigan State University, which is located in East Lansing.
