17-Year-Old Arrested In Connection To Attempted Rape Of 13-Year Old Bronx Girl

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New York City police say a 17-year-old boy is accused of attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl in the Bronx.

Police say they arrested Garry Pinkney early Sunday on charges of attempted rape, robbery, burglary and a criminal sex act.

The alleged incident occurred on Thursday.

Police say Pickney allegedly followed the girl into the elevator at the girl's apartment in Crotona Park and coerced her into letting him inside her apartment, CBS2 reported.

The girl's brother said the suspect confronted her at the front door, and demanded to use the bathroom before attacking her in the living room.

Police say once inside he allegedly produced a knife and demanded money. When she refused, police say he removed items from her bag and forced her into a sex act and attempted to rape her.

The victim was treated at a hospital.

It wasn't immediately known if Pinkney had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
