Man Wanted In Series Of Violent Brooklyn Cell Phone Robberies, Police Say

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a man in connection to a series of violent cell phone robberies in Brooklyn.

According to police, the suspect allegedly punched a 25-year-old man in the face while he was walking on Riegalman Boardwalk and West 19 Street at around 2:25 a.m. on July 6. The suspect then took the victim's cell phone and fled.

The suspect struck again on July 18, allegedly pushing a 53-year-old woman to the ground and taking her cell phone on West 25th Street and Riegalman Boardwalk at around 2:45 p.m., police said.

The suspect is described as 5'7" with a slim build, and is believed to be in his late teens/early 20s.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stopper at (800) 577-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
