Red Bulls Inch Closer To Playoff Spot With Wild Draw Against Toronto

TORONTO (CBSNewYork/AP) — Jozy Altidore scored his second goal of the game in the 86th minute and Toronto FC tied the New York Red Bulls 3-3 on Sunday to wrap up a playoff spot.

Altidore took Michael Bradley's pass and beat a defender, turning at the edge of the penalty box before firing the shot home. Altidore also scored on a free kick in the 68th minute to pull Toronto (13-8-8) within one. He has eight goals in his last nine games.

The Red Bulls (12-9-9) missed a chance to clinch a playoff spot, blowing 2-0 and 3-1 leads

Toronto is 7-1-2 in its last 10 games and owns a two-point lead in the Eastern Conference over both the Red Bulls and NYCFC.

The Red Bulls extended their club-record unbeaten streak in league play to 12 games (5-0-7).

Bradley Wright-Phillips, who scored in his sixth straight game, upped his season goals total to 20 with a pair for New York. The Red Bulls also got an own goal from Toronto's Steven Beitashour.

Bradley also scored for Toronto, which fell behind 2-0 after 31 minutes.
