Cruz On Big Play Vs. Saints: 'I Felt Like I Had To Catch It About 3 Times'

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Victor Cruz described in detail Tuesday his clutch reception that helped the Giants beat the Saints two days earlier.

With less than two minutes to play, Cruz fought off Saints cornerback Ken Crawley for a 34-yard pass down to New Orleans' 2-yard line. That catch set up a 23-yard Josh Brown field goal to give the Giants a 16-13 victory as time expired.

"I kind of just ran my route, tried to get a good release on him, and Eli threw the ball up there, and it was kind of one of those 50-50 balls," Cruz said during his weekly appearance on Mike Francesa's WFAN show.

"I did (have to adjust to the ball)," Cruz added. "If you see it, I kind of leaned in at the last minute to kind of get inside of him, to kind of adjust for the football, and then I went up and met the football at its summit.

"I caught it. His hand was in the middle, but then we began to kind of tussle back and forth for it. He had it, and I felt like I had to catch it about three times. But I was able to get two hands on it at the very end and pull it within my chest, which was a tremendous feeling."
