WESTBURY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — Nassau County Police, family members, and doctors joined an officer being released from the hospital on Thursday, after his miracle recovery from a serious auto accident.

Despite the life threatening injuries when a car broadsided his after running a red light Psoinas was wheeled out of Nassau University Medical Center on Thursday, surrounded by fellow officers like Sgt. Ricky Forsetti. He said the whole Second Precinct where Psoinas is the commanding officer was also grateful to the staff and presented them with a plaque.
