Man Hit In Head, Robbed In Central Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was hit in the head and robbed in Central Park late Sunday, police said.

Around 8 p.m., the 25-year-old man was attacked by a group of four men in the park near West 67th Street and West Drive, police said.

The suspects took $50, police said. The victim was a New York City resident, according to police.

No weapons are believed to have been used.

Police said Monday morning that it was too early to determine whether the incident was related to another attack in Central Park last weekend.

Around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27 at 65th Street near Center Drive, four teen boys siting on a bench came up behind a 66-year-old woman and pushed her to the ground, police said. They took her purse and fled, police said.

Around noon on Wednesday, police said a woman pushing her newborn in a stroller was robbed by a trio of teens. Police said two 19-year-old men and a 14-year-old girl made off with the mother's purse after shoving her to the ground.

Three suspects were arrested in that incident.

There were also two separate robberies in the park that happened the week before.

On Thanksgiving Thursday, Nov. 24, police said a 47-year-old man was walking along Center Drive near 66th Street when he was approached by two males, believed to be teenagers. Authorities said they pushed the man to the ground, grabbed his wallet and cell phone from his jacket pocket and then ran off toward 72nd Street.

Two days earlier, police said a 43-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint on 81st Street and Transverse around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22. Sources told CBS2 the suspect choked the victim from behind while threatening to cut his face if the victim didn't give something over, telling the man he didn't care if he went back to jail.
