8 Million Cuisinart Food Processors Recalled Due To Laceration Risk

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Around 8 million Cuisinart food processors are being recalled due to risk of lacerations.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, a riveted blade inside the processor poses the risk of breaking off into processed food, putting consumers at risk of injury.

The following model numbers are affected:

CFP-9, CFP-11, DFP-7, DFP-11, DFP-14,  DLC-5, DLC-7, DLC-8, DLC-10, DLC-XP, DLC-2007, DLC-2009, DLC-2011, DLC-2014, DLC-3011, DLC-3014, EV-7, EV-10, EV-11, EV-14, KFP-7 and MP-14.

The model number can be found on the bottom of the model.

According to the CSDC, 69 reports of broken blades in food have been reported, with 30 reports of lacerations received.

Cuisinart is urging consumers to stop use and contact the company for a free replacement blade, CBS News reported.

Customers can contact Cuisinart toll-free at 877-339-2534 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Consumers can also contact the company online at www.cuisinart.com and click on "Product Recalls" at the bottom of the page for more information on the voluntary recall.
