NYC Introduces Its First Girl Scout Troop For Homeless Girls

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Girl Scouts of New York City are making history.

The city introduced the first troop consisting only of homeless girls.

Queens Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer shared pictures of Troop 6000 which was started by a mom who lost her home.

All 25 troop members live in a Queens homeless shelter.

The Girl Scouts of Greater New York cover their membership fees, uniforms and monthly dues.

The troop hopes to bring awareness to the community about homelessness.
