NEW YORK (WFAN) — Ten years before Phil Jackson took over the Knicks, he was an in-studio guest on Mike and the Mad Dog’s show.

It was Oct. 25, 2004. Jackson was out of coaching and was promoting his book “The Last Season: A Team in Search of Its Soul.”

It turned out it wasn’t Jackson’s “last season.” He returned to the Lakers’ bench the following year and stayed there six more seasons, winning two more world titles.

Two of the topics that came up were Jackson’s interest in coaching the Knicks and his time playing in New York.
