NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — It was an early birthday celebration out at Luna Park in Coney Island Sunday to honor a Brooklyn icon.

The world famous Coney Island Cyclone turns 90-years-old on Monday.

The wooden roller coaster made its debut back in 1927 and underwent a complete restoration last year.

The city named the Cyclone an official landmark in 1988, and it was placed on the national register of historic places in 1991.
