SUMMIT, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Two people were hurt when a car slammed into a tree in New Jersey.

State police said two cars were involved in the crash Thursday morning on Route 78 in Summit.

One overturned and slammed into a tree.

First responders had to remove the roof to reach the two people inside.

The driver sustained critical injuries.

The passenger was not seriously hurt.
