Report: LIRR Derailment Caused By Train Too Long For Side Track
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Service to Montauk and the Hamptons was disrupted over the holiday weekend.
Sources tell Newsday one train was too long for the side track where it pulled over.
It was sideswiped by the other train, causing both locomotives to leave the rails.
Nobody was hurt.
The LIRR has declined to comment, citing an ongoing investigation.
