One Person Badly Injured, One Reported Missing After Bronx Junkyard Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – One person was seriously hurt and another is believed to be missing after a junkyard fire in the Bronx.

The fire burned for nearly three hours, sending thick black smoke into the air around Boston Road and Pinkney Avenue in the Eastchester section Wednesday afternoon.

Two firefighters also suffered minor injuries.

The FDNY is investigating the cause but believe a blow torch being used by workers may have ignited fuel left behind in one of the junked vehicles.
