FDNY Promotes 70 Firefighters For Duty In 2020
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro presided over the Staten Island ceremony promoting 70 members of the FDNY.
Among the group, 25 lieutenants are now captains, and 45 firefighters are new lieutenants.
The FDNY says its members responded to 1.8 million emergencies in 2019, the second-highest in department history.
There were 66 civilian fire deaths last year, 25% fewer than in 2018.
